Biografia

Cristian Mungiu premiered his first feature film, Occident (2002), at the Cannes Quinzaine des Réalisateurs. In 2007 he won the Golden Palm in Cannes and the FIPRESCI Grand Prix in San Sebastian with 4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile (4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days), as well as the Euopean Film Awards for Best Film and Best Director and the Goya for Best European Film. In 2009 he presented the omnibus film Amintiri din época de aur (Tales from the Golden Age), in Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes, where he received, in 2012, with Dupa dealuri (Beyond the Hills), the Best Screenplay and Best Actress Awards. In 2016 he received the Best Director Award for Bacalaureat (Graduation) at the French competition, where he once again competed in 2022 with R.M.N.
