Duże dzieci (2010)

angielski It’s a corny comparison, but even Sandler has attempted his version of The Expendables and the result is a solid collection of comedians per square foot on the film set, and it's clear that everyone enjoyed the shoot to no end. There are no annoying family values, and in fact, the guys are old enough to mentor the little kids, but all the fart and gerontophile jokes are painfully torturous. You'll also soon realize that for this bunch the film is relatively shallow in terms of being funny. Still, it’s pretty good and everyone except Schneider acts and the Salma & Maria duo is absolutely perfect :-)

Jonah Hex (2010)

angielski As long as Brolin spouts his dry catchphrases, you’ll be thinking this is going to be one of those films that try to be genius with their goofiness. However, the undernourished script by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor starts to pile up after half an hour, and a desperate Hayward has to repeat some scenes three times to even reach the minimum yardage. The expected result from the trailer (unfortunately?) came true.

Maczeta (2010)

angielski They should have stuck with the fake trailer. It serves up imaginative action and catchphrases in every other scene, but the whole thing is kind of... sterile. And boring at that. Lost among the geysers of stylishness is a plot that needed to draw us in more and give us more insight into the characters. I know, it’s all about a slightly different genre and intelligence rules, but even when you have one of the ugliest people running around between Hollywood and Mexico in the lead role, you expect the fun to be a little more serious, or conversely, a little crazier. Like Planet Terror.

Salt (2010)

angielski I don't like it when someone copies scenes from my favorite films (Noyce is a terrible routinist) and it literally drives me crazy when I guess what’s going to happen after ten minutes and it comes to fruition (keep Wimmer at least ten miles away from Hollywood). Considering that not much more actually happens in the film, I have to wonder why I gave it a relatively high rating.

Wybuchowa para (2010)

angielski A perfect echo of the 1990s and the definition of a "summer film." The plot is from the ranks of primitive, overdone action scenes and most importantly a functioning central duo. Cruise plays himself, so he’s entertaining in the right way in the light-hearted atmosphere, and Diaz proves that playing a naive whiny blonde is not all that easy. It's too bad that it’s so predictable, or the feeling you get that the film won't surprise you with anything. This is John Powell's best music since The Bourne Ultimatum. 3 ½.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

angielski Two days after watching it, the only memories left in my head were strawberries, great actors, and a lot of missed chances (for everyone - Scarlett's absolutely tragic fight in the corridor, like the rest of the action). Even the first film wasn't particularly perennial, but this is a pretty sad downgrade.

Niezniszczalni (2010)

angielski Satisfaction for me on all fronts. From the fighters’ hangout (admittedly, the church scene could have been a minute or two longer), to the witty banter and poking fun at themselves, to the sheer action-packed charge that always kicks in at the right moment. You could criticize it for all sorts of things, but the same also applies to classic nostalgic films. At times I felt like clapping loudly and shouting at the whole movie theater. Particularly the "fistfight" at the end was asking for it permanently. 4 1/2. I think I'll go see it again. Edit: I went again and the enthusiasm has lessened. I’m bothered a bit by the tediousness of the first half and the neglect of some of the team members (Couture, Crews). But from the moment Stallone breaks into the basement dungeon, it's one of the action highlights of (probably not only) the year. Regarding the fun factor, though, Joe Carnahan otherwise won...

Tekken (2010)

angielski I never played the game and I also wasn’t planning on watching the movie. But on a rainy morning, with a slight hangover, I found it to be a perfectly adequate palliative. When the anti-system rebellion started, I was surprised that the runtime was long past the halfway mark. True, the editing is a tragedy, and arena fights have an unattainable dimension in the company of Yuri Boyka, but... whatever, I had a solid time with it.

Sherlock (2010) (serial)

angielski After the end of the third episode, saliva was running down my chin and I was like a hungry dog looking for the next murder that would be entertaining enough for Sherlock to take it on. He is a hero from the ranks of absolute anti-social types like Dr. House or Sheldon Cooper, whose brilliant minds are perfectly at work and are absolutely useless and unbearable in the context of ordinary life on this planet. The type-perfect Cumberbatch/Freeman duo works perfectly, the verbal jabs never end, the cases are really catchy, and most of all it's all incredibly entertaining. Even the weaker second episode (weaker within the series, in a regular production it would stick out like a pitchfork from the dung) doesn't stop me from joining all the praise. Edit: The second season takes it much further. Especially the opening episode A Scandal in Belgravia is a literal masterpiece. If only we didn't have to wait over a year for the next season.

Spirit - Duch Miasta (2008)

angielski "Toilets are always funny!" No, Sam, they’re not. As well as the self-parodic level of the film and the tragic choice of the lead actor, the film definitively falls flat due to Miller's cluelessness. You can't get away with a protagonist without a personal history and a plot without a solid skeleton in a movie based on a comic book. It'll be dead... "like Star Trek!"
