Joana Pimenta is a Portuguese filmmaker. Her short film, The Figures Carved into the Knife by the Sap of the Banana Trees (2014), wins an award at the IndieLisboa as well as the award for Most promising filmmaker at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. Her video installations are presented at the Festival Temps d'Images, among others. She works and teaches at the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University and is a fellow at the Film Study Center and the Sensory Ethnography Lab.
