angielski This franchise is pretty stale already. The decent craftsmanship keeps it watchable, but otherwise it's a show of creative confusion and futility - we've seen it all, we know it all. ()

angielski The 5th episode of Insidious is surprisingly the most financially profitable of the series, so it might not be the last, but qualitatively it is the weakest. The 4th episode wasn't worth much and this one is on a similar level. Once James Wan got away from the franchise, the quality went down significantly (I'd rather see another Conjuring or Crooked Man). The direction this time was taken by debutant Patrick Wilson, one of the leads, so you can’t expect miracles from an inexperienced man. Plot-wise, I wasn't too interested, there are a few scares, but they're cheesy and didn't work for me. The creepy and dark atmosphere has almost disappeared, the camera games and sound effects weren’t impressive, there's a lack of interesting ideas. In short, this episode didn't bring anything new, just a recycling of what I've seen. On the plus side, the craftsmanship is good, so in this dearth of ghost stories, at least on a good technical level, this is sufficient, but at the same time unnecessary. 5/10. ()

angielski Insidious: The Red Door is certainly not the top of the franchise and we can't even talk about a breakthrough sequel, but the film will reach the golden average. I'm a bit disappointed with the first half, where not much happens and its pace is so slow that I wondered if something was finally going to happen or if Patrick WIlson in the director's chair was fucking with us, but the second half saves the result and from the moment the "red door" appears on the screen there's already something to watch. The heart-attack inducing scares are in high cadence and work great, but on the other hand there's not much atmosphere to speak of, and likewise, the advancement in the plot of the whole series or the detailed explanation of previous episodes is nil, which is quite a shame. If someone wanted me to define mediocre, unambitious, happy medium, I'd call it Insidious 5, because that's exactly what this film is. It holds the viewer's attention thanks to the second half, but don't expect anything more than a classic horror movie, it's just as if Wilson is afraid to break out of the conventional mold and take a chance, this is just a safe bet.
