What can become of a young girl who grows up utterly disempowered and lacking any kind of security or means of education? Soraya, forced to marry when she was just a child, manages to escape her husband and flees to a village in which she does not know anyone at all. The young village teacher offers her shelter and a roof over her head, a place to calm down and consider how her life might continue from here on. Tommaso Cotronei’s second feature film narrates a tale of two young people in Yemen. The young woman is from the city, the young man from the countryside. They get to know each other and fall in love. They attempt to educate the children of the remote village, lest they should become victims of Al-Quaeda.
