Akcja toczy się pod koniec lat 70. Poznajemy idealistkę Charlie – młodą aktorkę, która podczas wakacji w Grecji spotyka tajemniczego Beckera. Szybko okazuje się, że intencje mężczyzny nie są takie, na jakie wyglądają. Wplątuje on kobietę w skomplikowany spisek. Charlie zostaje podwójną agentką i rozpoczyna misję, która na zawsze zmieni jej życie. (Canal+)

A brilliant spy thriller. The concept from the original author is fantastic, and the execution is nearly perfect, with cinematography that borders on genius. Florence Pugh in the lead role fits like a glove. I thoroughly enjoyed all eight episodes of this miniseries. It's just a shame that the last two episodes went a bit overboard, and the ending, given the buildup, could have been more shocking. But those are minor quibbles in an otherwise outstanding series. Definitely on par with The Night Manager, which is also based on a novel by the same author.

I love espionage themes, especially those depicting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which isn’t often featured in films or series (Spielberg’s Munich still leads the pack, let’s be honest). Chan-wook Park once again relies on his flair for perfect audiovisuals. In The Little Drummer Girl, viewers are treated to fascinating camera angles (luxurious!), and a play with colors (especially green, yellow, and red) that subtly reveals the protagonist’s mental state. Michael Shannon stole the show with a performance so confident that I haven’t seen anything like it on television in a long time. But Florence Pugh was not far behind him. The plot offers gripping moments, particularly towards the end. While there’s no action, the final sequence pulls no punches. The story could have been a bit more cohesive, but fortunately, the dialogues elevate it significantly. I give it 8/10.
