Louise by the Shore is a beautifully melancholic story about aging and solitude. The animation is stunning, the cinematography even more so. For the entire hour and a half, I found myself absorbed in its quiet beauty, and it left me feeling warm inside. So much so that it almost lulled me into a kind of peaceful drowsiness. But in this case, that’s not a sign of boredom—it’s proof of the film’s perfect, calming melancholy.

A beautifully melancholic tale about how reconciliatory and, in its own way, magical the autumn of life can be. The poetry of the story is underscored by soft pastel colors, tasteful animation, and soul-pleasing music. It wouldn't be bad to grow old like this in the warm sunshine and the sound of the sea waves, especially with my faithful canine companion by my side. (95%)
