When nine National Guardsmen enter the Louisiana swamp for routine training, they are unaware that just a handful of their ranks will make it out alive. Through an error in judgment, they incite an all-out war with some angry Cajuns who know the territory like the backs of their hands. Well, look at this unassuming redneck survival drama that beats even the overhyped Deliverance in my eyes. Not only does the film have an attractive setting of swamps and marshes, but it also has a very likeable bunch of soldiers who gradually fall like flies and you actually care about them. The unpredictability to determine the direction the film will take and the decently suspenseful finale are also plus points. Good stuff. 75%
