A history of panel "rabbit hutches", starting with the original simple business plan through to the uto-pian vision of Soviet planners who strived to create community housing with a communal quality—but paradoxically, increased the feeling of isolation. People from various countries who have lived in housing projects since Cold War days talk about their experiences and piece together a picture of European standardization, a process that affected the lives of entire generations. Prefabricated houses, on the one hand a capitalist discovery and, on the other, a symbol of the Soviet regime, are a shared reality which can be found right across Europe, from east to west. What is the actual history of these prefabricated housing projects? What effect does living in a concrete hutch have on its inhabitants? (Days of European Film)
