Liev Schreiber stars as Ned, a loving husband and devoted father dealing with life's curveballs. A very good premise with an excellent cast, but it gets lost in a fairly flat execution with no depth, which is a real shame. I was most pleased with Helen Hunt, Ezra Miller (unexpectedly) and Brian Dennehy in their roles. In short, an average drama about the life of one family, in which classic problems are solved - it neither offends nor impresses.

This could’ve been a solid story if it had been told differently. It’s definitely not an easy subject— a marriage in crisis paired with the revelation that their son is gay. It’s a tough narrative to tackle, and I was doubly disappointed because I usually love seeing Liev Schreiber and Helen Hunt on screen.
