Gdy księżniczka pocałuje żabę, zamieni się ona w wymarzonego księcia. Tak przynajmniej być powinno – wszyscy znamy tę historię. Ale co się stanie, gdy dziewczyna pocałuje żabę, a rezultat tego czynu będzie… hm… trochę inny? Miejmy nadzieję, że miłość mimo wszystko znajdzie dla siebie drogę, choćby to było naprawdę trudne! Akcja filmu toczy się w latach dwudziestych, w tętniącym rytmami jazzu Nowym Orleanie. A głównymi bohaterami są: pragmatyczna dziewczyna, której nie w głowie amory – Tiana oraz lekkoduch Naveen, wielbiciel jazzu, książę z dalekiej Maldonii. A pleasant shock in the fact that Disney dared to venture into the waters of its most classic stories in a time when it could hardly function without pop culture references or 3D animation. Not to mention how it overturns a few unmistakable archetypes of well-known fairy tales. Though the swamp or jazz could have offered a little more, I must unequivocally praise this effort. Especially since instead of swan songs, it opened the studio a path to further success in the form of Tangled or the mega-hit Frozen.

The 49th Disney Feature Film The classic Disney films are alive and well. I love every minute of this froggy jazz ride and enjoy the New Orleans touch (as Anne Rice often describes it in another genre) in a big way. The firefly, the voodoo, and the crazy interwar blonde captured my heart. I consider Tiana's Palace my own - where else can I get art deco, an alligator with a trumpet and a variation on Josephine without a banana? And the frogs and the snake... simply beautiful. Wonderful, God bless the banishment of 3D tastelessness. I haven't had this much fun since Dumbo and Pocahontas.

Disney rolled again and served me a great animated film with a great soundtrack, lots of funny scenes and lots of likable characters in bright colours. The best, of course, were the up-and-coming musician with a properly toothy mouth, Louis, and the bright-eyed Ray in love with the starry-eyed Evangeline. It's dynamic. It's very colorful. It's funny. It's just Disney. In the last third, the film slowly began to lose steam, but the ending awesome. Disney did not disappoint and once again delighted and entertained me.
