A very funny action comedy in places. There could have been more action moments (like the thrilling opening scene), but you never get bored. Some of the gags are really good and some are downright deadly (for instance, the successful punchline with the diligent video store customer) Of the actors, Lou Diamond Phillips is brilliant, Wahlberg is surprisingly bland. I love these black-humor action thrillers from the '90s. Great fun from start to finish with a totally crazy and surprisingly original plot, lots of memorable situations, nobody can be trusted, everybody fucks with everybody, plus great young Mark Wahlberg and a good dose of action. Worth a watch. 75%. ()
A tragically stupid film. It is funny at times, but mostly because of how much stupidity oozes from it. Unfortunately, the worst part is that it doesn’t even work as as an action movie. The fast-paced scenes are downright laughable – absolutely incomprehensible, tragically edited, completely messed up. I tried to take it with a grain of salt, but at times it was truly unbearable. Unbelievable mess. ()
