Nie mogąc poślubić swojego szlacheckiego kochanka, prosta mieszkanka XVI-wiecznej Wenecji ma już tylko dwie możliwości: wstąpić do klasztoru lub zostać kurtyzaną. (Netflix)

Timeless Venice of the 16th century and its atmosphere are beautifully portrayed here. Along with a story that may seem romantic to the point of misery. Still, at the right moment, it can strike with a good moment, which must be appreciated even by the male population. For example, the fact that Catherine McCormack is really great, she can act, and besides, I have never heard of her before. I think that is definitely worth noticing.

The gorgeous Catherine McCormack literally steals the whole film for herself and I don't mind it at all. Her captivating performance as an involuntary courtesan is unforgettable, it unleashes a whirlwind of emotions and creations that place her among the acting elites. There are no grandiose decorations, monumental sets, or twenty-million-dollar actors, yet everything fits perfectly even with a minimal budget. The plot is told in a captivating way, and the “oldest profession” is excellently portrayed halfway between comedy and drama. It is expertly dosed and brilliantly directed. Bravo! A fantastic film.
